Komandoo Island Resort can be found on the Lhaviyani Atoll, 130 kilometres from Male' International Airport which is only a 40 minute enjoyable seaplane flight away across the North Male' and Lhaviyani Atolls giving a wonderful view of the lagoons and reefs of the area.
Popular with honeymooners, the luxury private island Komandoo is only 100 metres wide and 500 metres long and provides a tranquil retreat with the turquoise waters of the lagoon lapping its white sand beaches. It is located in the channel opening attracting much interesting marine life such as turtles, sharks and rays for underwater explorers to enjoy or the more land bound can enjoy the tropical vegetation and coconut plantation.
Komandoo opened in 1998 and offers spacious air conditioned accommodation and modern amenities, with all villas having a terrace overlooking the beach and waters. Choose from Beach Villas, Jacuzzi Beach Villas and Jacuzzi Water Villas.
Built in 2005, the Jacuzzi Water Villas are built on wooden columns in the scenic south lagoon offering spectacular views of the lagoon and Indian Ocean and its wild inhabitants from the part-roofed terrace and sundeck as you lay comfortably on a double sun lounger or on a shaded daybed. These teak-furnished villas also offer a large bedroom and sitting area (the total villa size with terrace and bathroom being 77 square metres) and a bathroom with a rain shower and Jacuzzi bath overlooking the lagoon.
The resort’s public facilities, built in Maldivian style with thatched rooves and quality furnishings, include an open-air gourmet restaurant on the water, the “Kandu Bar” terrace overlooking the water and offering a view of the local aquatic wildlife, the Shop offering both day to day necessities and souvenirs and the Duniye Spa delivering health and beauty treatments by professionally trained Thai, Indian and Balinese staff – choose from a package to discover total wellbeing or any of the various individual treatments. Alongside these there is also a small Internet cafe for those who do not fully wish to leave the rest of the world behind.
For an especially romantic evening how about enjoying an intimate candlelit dinner on the beach, watching the sunset with a glass of your favourite tipple and a meal created between yourselves and the resort’s Executive Chef, providing an unforgettable experience.
Komandoo ProDivers is a 5-star PADI Dive Centre. Rosa Brau (Base Leader) and her team of multilingual instructors with their many years of diving experience around the world will aid you in possibly some of the the best diving you have ever enjoyed. There are more than 40 dive sites in the area around Komandoo all of which are within 10 to 45 minutes reach by boat. Boat trips are available everyday of the week - mornings and afternoons - and full day, early morning, and night scuba diving excursions are organized regularly.
The site also offers a house reef located close to the beach around the island and four access jetties leading over the edge. Independent day and night diving is available.
